1 page 8vo with integral blank leaf on letterhead of “Office of All the Year Round”, Strand, 23 September 1891.

'I wrote to Delacher yesterday and have had a telegram from him this morning 'all forgeries'. He will be in town today, and meanwhile I think it would be well to refer holders of any cheque that may be presented – even if the signatures appear to be genuine – to bearer.'

The youngest of Charles Dickens’s children, Charley suffered from his father’s lack of confidence in his sense of purpose. Nevertheless, he eventually went to work for his father at All the Year Round in 1868, two years before Dickens senior’s death, and in due course he became the sole proprietor. His changes to the editorial slant of the publication did not win favour with the public, however, and the magazine ceased publication in 1893.

Very good condition.
