First edition. 8vo. [6], 274 pp. Original brown cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, dust jacket (internally clean and unmarked; some trivial shelf wear to extremities, spine panel slightly faded, otherwise a very good copy). London, Routledge and Kegan Paul.

A collection of lectures and articles including 'three lectures delivered at the University of Bologna on Some Problems in the History of Capitalism, two lectures on economic development given at the Dehli School of Economics, articles on the theory of development, and a number of articles on various questions of soviet economic planning. The collection ends with a note in retrospect on Marx's Das Kapital' (dust jacket blurb).

'Maurice Dobb was undoubtedly one of the outstanding political economists of this century. He was a Marxist, and was one of the most creative contributors to Marxian economics. As Ronald Meek put it, in his obituary of Dobb for the British Academy, ‘over a period of fifty years [Dobb] established and maintained his position as one of the most eminent Marxist economists in the world’.' (New Palgrave).
