This is a copy of a 13th century document, written c. 1600. It is headed: Vicaria de Braunscomb (i.e. vicarage of Branscombe in Devonshire). William, bishop of Exeter, appoints to the vicarage of Branscombe - this vicarage has long been vacant - the priest Laurence de Sudbury and his successors. This grant includes the dwelling at La Forde with garden and a neadow that is called the parsonage ("parsonehegge"). The document is dated at Exeter, Saturday after the feast of Saint James the Apostle, 1209, and in the 12th year of William's consecration. In large black folder.
