Covers slightly worn and soiled, but a decent copy, with the ownership inscription "Vere Fane March 22 1919 from   ". Fane has marked the passages concerning his unit, the 8th (Meerut) division, and has provided a key to these passages describing many of them as based on "letters from" himself. Major-General Sir Vere Bonamy Fane was a career soldier, serving in Bengal, Punjab, China during the Boxer Rebellion, the NW Frontier, with the E.E.F. and later in Burma.
