We recently acquired a large collection of twentieth century books by women and happily share them with you here now. The below listing includes a broad but by no means complete range of some of the best books written by women in the last century. The majority date from the second half of the twentieth century, but there are a few earlier books by notable authors such as Elizabeth Bowen, Collette, and Vita Sackville West.
Some of the highlights include books written by the Pulitzer Prize winning authors Carol Shields, Anne Tyler, and Alice Walker, as well as the Nobel Literature Prize winners Toni Morrison, Alice Munro, and Dorris Lessing. There are also books by bestsellers such as Margaret Atwood, Isabel Allende, and Edna O’Brien. Many are signed by the authors, and some contain autograph letters.
