First edition. 8vo. Stitched as issued. Half title and last leaf a little browned, uncut and unopened. Very good. viii, 128pp. London, Lupton Relfe, 1823.
This original edition is very scarce with just four copies recorded in the trade, the last in 1980.
The work was published in the same year that Macaulay and T.F. Buxton formed the Anti-Slavery Society. It is considered one "of the best presentations of the East Indian case in the equalization controversy. The West Indian claims and allegations are considered one by one" (Ragatz).
