The drawing, based on sketches from Capt. E. Hewett of the Queen's Own, show events of the night of 19/20th September when the encampment was attacked by Hadda Mullah's men from the Bedmanai Pass. They were beaten off without too much difficulty, but some managed to get within ten yards of the entrenchment. The present picture shows just such a desperate moment illuminated by the eerie light of a shell-burst.
