In 1902 the ILH was effectively disbanded into the Left Wing, who were merged with a West Rand Regiment, and the Right Wing, which continued in the traditions and spirit of the ILH being temporarily merged with the East Rand Volunteers. An extremely scarce and interesting item containing rolls, promotions, transfers &c. A quantity of unusual documents have been loosely inserted into this copy. i/ Official Notice of the disbandment of the Regiment in 1907, reprinting the circular letter from John Lamont, CSO of the Transvaal Volunteers. Attached is a cyclostyled cover sheet explaining that if no reply is received requesting a transfer by 15th June 1907 "... it will be assumed that you desire to be discharged on disbandment." Accompanied by a cyclostyled Special Regimental Order by Lt.-Col. W.T.F. Davies expressing appreciation of the work of the men of the Regiment and the hope that those who choose to join the new corps "... will carry with them the memory of the traditions of their old Regiment, and bear themselves as worthily as they have heretofore." ii/ 2pp. 4to.
