Drawn by H.M. Paget from a Sketch by our Special Artist G.D. Giles. Water-colour en grisaille on light card, c.7" x 10", printed caption text tipped onto the lower edge. Very good. [Produced for the Graphic,] dated 12th May, 1900.
The descriptive caption continues, "Transport drivers having broken their harness, see a piece of wire lying on the ground, and think a bit will be just the thing to mend it with. They accordingly proceed to take a few yards for that purpose."
Giles had served as a soldier in Afghanistan and Egypt and specialized in horses and military scenes.
