Maggs Bros. Ltd. is one of the foremost dealers of rare books and manuscripts in the world.

Over our 170-year history, we have sold important books and manuscripts to collectors and libraries across the world. We hold a Royal Warrant from the British crown, and have previously held warrants from the kings of Spain and Portugal.

Fantastic Locations

We have two bookshops in Central London. Our main premises on Bedford Square, in the heart of Bloomsbury, and a smaller shop of carefully curated stock on Curzon Street, in Mayfair.

Both are open to the public, and we welcome visitors to come and browse the remarkable range of material we have on our shelves. We specialise in early printed books, illuminated manuscripts, travel and exploration, literature, fine bindings, philosophy and economics, autographs and archives, and much more.

A Warm Welcome

Whether you are a lifelong bibliophile or new to the world of rare books, we aim to provide a friendly and knowledgeable environment, in which you can browse and learn more about the breadth of our stock.

Our staff of specialists have wide-ranging expertise, and we take great pride in building long and lasting relationships with our customers.

As well as selling books, we buy them too, and are always happy to receive enquiries regarding any treasures you may have at home. As members of rare book associations such as the ABA, PBFA and ILAB, we adhere to strict codes of conduct and value professionalism, honesty and discretion in all facets of our business.

We regularly exhibit at book fairs both in the UK and internationally, and issue both digital and printed catalogues showcasing new acquisitions.

Our website gives an easily searchable view of the stock held across our departments. If you’re looking for something specific, don’t hesitate to contact us; our specialists will be glad to help.
